Kirstie Vesseur, fertility nutritionist, with her husband and daughter in the garden

What does a fertility nutritionist do?

A fertility nutritionist prepares your body for conception and pregnancy, ideally three to four months before you start trying. I am Kirstie Vesseur, a Registered Clinical Nutritionist based in Te Awamutu, working online with women and couples across New Zealand. I support preconception, PCOS, unexplained infertility and IVF, checking iron, thyroid, vitamin D, folate and blood sugar, and I work alongside your GP or fertility clinic.

A ROOT CAUSE APPROACH

What I look for first

Conception needs a body that feels safe and well fed. These are the common blocks:

  • ✓Ovulation that is irregular or not happening
  • ✓Low progesterone in the second half of your cycle
  • ✓Thyroid function and antibodies
  • ✓Iron, B12, folate and vitamin D gaps
  • ✓Blood sugar and insulin resistance
  • ✓Stress, inflammation and gut health

How I test

DUTCH hormone test

Progesterone, oestrogen balance and cortisol across your cycle.

Blood tests, read for optimal

Full thyroid panel with antibodies, iron studies, B12, folate, vitamin D and HbA1c.

Cycle tracking

Temperature and LH tracking to confirm when, and whether, you ovulate.

Nutrigenomics

MTHFR and methylation, so we choose the right form of folate.

I work alongside your GP, obstetrician or fertility clinic.

REAL STORIES · ★★★★★ GOOGLE REVIEWS

“Potential gestational diabetes lead me to Kirstie, but I didn’t realise how much more I really needed her in my life. She’s supported me from pre and post pregnancy, tailored nutrition plans, thorough blood analysis, mental & physical health guidance. I would recommend Kirstie a 100 times over.”
ANNA · ★★★★★
“Her meal plans are easy to follow and she really listens to what you need. She supported me through my 2nd pregnancy and I can really feel the difference. I had more energy, less morning sickness and baby is healthy.”
SOPHIE P. · ★★★★★
“Prior to joining her program, I was eight months postpartum, overwhelmed, exhausted, anxious, and extremely critical of myself. I joined the program hoping to ‘bounce back’ and lose weight, but the information and support I received went far beyond nutrition.”
IRENE B. · ★★★★★
“Most of my family has been working with Kirsty for three years, and hand on heart, I couldn’t be happier with her approach and service. She always goes the extra mile, and you never feel like just another client.”

Questions

How far ahead should I start?

Ideally three to four months before you start trying, because an egg takes around 90 days to mature. If you are already trying, start now.

Do you work with fertility clinics?

Yes. Your plan fits around your IVF or IUI timeline and your clinic's protocol, and I can write to your specialist if needed.

How long until I notice a difference?

It depends on what's going on for you. Some women notice a difference within the first week. Others with longer-standing or more complex symptoms take a few cycles, and we track your progress at every session.

Is it claimable on health insurance?

Many NZ policies cover a Registered Clinical Nutritionist. You get receipts for every claim.
