PERIMENOPAUSE NUTRITION

Feel like yourself again through perimenopause.

Night sweats, 3am wake-ups, rage, brain fog and a body that holds weight differently. These are signals, not something you just have to push through.

Can nutrition help with perimenopause symptoms?

Yes. Nutrition can ease hot flushes, broken sleep, brain fog, mood swings and midlife weight gain by steadying blood sugar, supporting iron and thyroid, and helping your body clear oestrogen well. I am Kirstie Vesseur, a Registered Clinical Nutritionist based in Te Awamutu, working online with women across New Zealand. I test, build a personalised plan and work alongside your GP, including if you are on HRT.

A ROOT CAUSE APPROACH

Why perimenopause hits so hard

It's not just "your hormones". These are the drivers I look for first:

  • ✓Falling progesterone, then swinging oestrogen
  • ✓Blood sugar swings and creeping insulin resistance
  • ✓Cortisol and a stretched nervous system
  • ✓Iron loss from heavier bleeds
  • ✓Thyroid changes that get missed
  • ✓Slow oestrogen clearance through the gut and liver

How I test

DUTCH hormone test

Oestrogen, progesterone, cortisol rhythm and how you clear oestrogen.

Blood tests, read for optimal

Iron studies, full thyroid panel, HbA1c, fasting insulin and vitamin D.

Cycle and symptom tracking

Sleep, flushes, mood and bleeding, mapped over a few cycles.

Nutrigenomics

Oestrogen clearance, methylation and stress genes.

I work alongside your GP, including if you are on or considering HRT.

Questions

Am I too young for perimenopause?

Symptoms often start in your late 30s or early 40s, years before periods stop. If your sleep, mood or cycle has shifted, it is worth looking at.

Do you work with women on HRT?

Yes. Nutrition supports HRT, it does not compete with it. I work alongside your GP so your plan fits whatever you decide.

How long until I notice a difference?

It depends on what's going on for you. Some women notice a difference within the first week. Others with longer-standing or more complex symptoms take a few cycles, and we track your progress at every session.

Is it claimable on health insurance?

Many NZ policies cover a Registered Clinical Nutritionist. You get receipts for every claim.
